This Kitchen Poem

 This kitchen
Soft smoke secrets
Each ghost upon the gale
Welcome here
Each breath
Rare and gifted by such drifters
Visible in smoke
Audible in flame
Never alone.

2 more from Ravens

I know forever is the memory of your touch

Angels with broken wings
I taste the sin they bring
I want to cling to them
But something always haunts me
Lust that is true,
Dreams that have gone astray
Down every road you know there’s really nothing much to choose
The siren’s sweet lament
Their spell is my intent
But there’s something in my head denying my attempt
A kind of howling sound says I am pledged to you
I cross the thousand years
Part the veil of tears
Despite the demon fears
I’m reaching out for you
And breaking through at last
The circle finally cast
Kneeling down I bow my head to you
My sword at your feet
My crown on your lap
My heart into you hands
I am my Lady’s man

Earliest morning I been up
Since we got here
Out in the garden Qi gong cup of tea
One crow on the aerial above the chimney
Is that you ?
Is that really you Maeve?
Yes you are sleek and shiny really beautiful today.
Tilts her head towards me
As if surprised
Then clucks a few syllables in return.

Can we stay Maeve? Can we make our home here
Well not exactly here but in this country. Are we really coming home?
She leans further towards me, opens and closes her beak, leans closer
then whistles three gutsy in her throat whistles & flies.

The grass needs tending
It just might rain
Beginning is the least I can do.

the song that was in my head all morning beofre i knew. for teddy

Grateful Dead I Know You Rider Lyrics

Songwriters: KAUKONEN, JORMA

I know you, rider, gonna miss me when Im gone;
I know you, rider, gonna miss me when Im gone;
Gonna miss your baby, from rolling in your arms.

Laid down last night, lord, I could not take my rest;
Laid down last night, lord, I could not take my rest;
My mind was wandering like the wild geese in the west.

The sun will shine in my back door someday.
The sun will shine in my back door someday.
March winds will blow all my troubles away.

I wish I was a headlight, on a north bound train;
I wish I was a headlight, on a north bound train;
Id shine my light through cool colorado rain.

I know you, rider, gonna miss me when Im gone;
I know you, rider, gonna miss me when Im gone;
Gonna miss your baby, from rolling in your arms.

for tedra l plane

as everything is in this life
we shared slapstick
and manic
and still all those questions never to be answered
now knowing this
something quiet
peace descends
a lacy feel of breath
not deep
not in or out

3 from Wanting To Be In The Old Tongue - by pd lyons

When you worship swans no longer
Will you find your way to me?
Smoke rising in a breathless voice
Winding between shade and sun
A dream begun on dew drops
Daring midday like a ghost
Vowing never to fly
From your embrace

black velvet traveller
dark morning herald
solitary secrets kept
well behind green eyes
alluded only by such offerings
as left upon our doorstep shrine.

winter wash
sails on hemp rigging
 places precious
this January sun.
strong wind, clear sailing,
a rising Tahitian blue,
fed by silver slips of memory
travelling on wings of fantasy
calling sea birds soar
above a mucky barking back yard dog.

from: Still Wishing To Be Ravens - by pd lyons

The Other Days

grey rains across the lake
even the fire duller now
as if unable to breathe

your absence
and without remedy

Every moment
Of sunlight
The cat
Just what to do

Shelly Gone To America

Rain whispers
Through my open window
Night again
Without you
